It’s possible, in my opinion, for a new series to have an instant classic – an episode that epitomizes all that is great about a program. I consider this a classic for this freshman series. It focuses on the three children and their eccentricities with a focus on little Brick (the standout Atticus Shaffer), who just doesn’t have the best social skills. Despite the efforts of his mom (Patricia Heaton) and dad (Neil Flynn), Brick struggles to make friends. And he does so in the most adorable way. Meanwhile, another son, Axl (yes, that’s really his name), toys with his mother’s emotions, unbeknownst to him. Instead of giving her his football jersey, like his fellow teammates gave to their mothers, he gives it to a girl. Gasp! Everyone gets a chance to shine, with all the action ending up at a neighborhood block party and a lawn mower race. If you’re looking for a show during this lull of holiday shows and repeats, check it out.
